We going to present you the poet András Petöcz and his poem “Europe Metaphorically“.
Biography :
Andràs Petöcz was born the 27th August, 1959 in Budapest. He began his career in 1980 as poet and redactor. In 1981 he became editor in chief of the university journal Jelenlét. He speak Hungarian, England, French and Russian.
He wrote some novels : “strangers”,“rats” and some poems : “in praise of the sea”(Europe metaphorically) and “in a row of sunlight”.
His prices :
1987 the prize Kassák
1990 the prize (Graves) of the most beautiful poem of year in Hungary.
1996 Jozsef Attila prize, the national prize in Hungary.
2001 the prize Artisjus, work of the best writer of the year.
2003 the international prize “Quasimodo prize”
Study of one of his poem :
«Europe metaphorically» was written in 1990, he was seen as a symbol political transformation and it elected the finest poem of the years.
The poet writes about Europe like a person; it's a personification. Europe is describe implicitly, he doesn't use the word “Europe”.
Andràs use several pronouns to define Europe (“you” and “she”).
The author give a face to Europe “ eyes opening, laughing gaily, her hair brushing one cheek “ hence the name of the poem.

Leena Lander is a writer, born 25 September 1955 in Turku. She wrote a lot of book including «The Home of Dark Butterflies». Its books are traduced in a lot of languages. She wrote other books like “Vienne la tempête” (1997), “Les Rives du retour” (2000),”Obéir” (2006).

The Home of Dark Butterflies :
This is a story about Juhani ,a boy. He was oppressed by a traumatic childhood* experience; Juhani grows in a education center for children of the islands of Saari. Authoritarian*, the director dream to transform its field* in tropical garden and bring up a silkworm* in the hope of splendid birth. Juhani learn the submission . When butterflies are hatching, they are sick. We can understand that there is a strange comparison between butterflies and teenagers.
The Home of the Dark Butterflies has been translated to fourteen languages and published in twenty countries. Leena Lander offer us a notion of power, desire and guilt*.
