The spruce * soundboard is based on seven arches of pine, which gives it a slightly * concave for better resistance to pressure of the strings *. The laouto has four double sets of strings and measures are decided by the maker but the length of the strings are between 680 and 750 mm.
Like the Tanbur, Laouto 's handle * has a larger number of frets; it is able to play intervals.
The strings were traditionally made of intestine, although the laouto, after, had modern steel srtings similar to bouzouki. The long handle is made of satinwood. It accommodates seven or eight metal strings, but once in two choruses, granted to the octave. The fingerboard is ebony. The bridge is shaped mustache.
